Premium Coach Hire in Germany

Nuremberg Group Transport for Messe Days and Old-Town Visits

Nuremberg is easy to reach and hard to drive into. The airport is about 8 km out and the Messe is on the U1, but coaches stop at the edge of the walled old town.

Airport, U2 and the Hauptbahnhof

Nuremberg Airport is about 15 minutes from the Hauptmarkt in light traffic. Neither a coach pick-up point nor coach rules are published there; its car parks take 2.10 m at most, and drivers of vehicles longer than 5 m are asked to contact the airport first. The meeting point and stopping place are therefore agreed with the operator. The U2 reaches the Hauptbahnhof in about 12 minutes, though only every second train runs through to the airport.

ICE, IC and EC trains stop at the Hauptbahnhof, not at the airport. From there the U1 reaches the Messe in 8 minutes, so rail delegates may not need a coach in the morning; the vehicle covers luggage, hotel moves and evening events.

NürnbergMesse and the NCC

The NürnbergMesse in Langwasser has 16 halls and the congress centres NCC Ost, Mitte and West. It is signposted from the A3, A6, A9 and A73, and a guidance system sends Messe, stadium and arena traffic to about 13,500 parking spaces. No coach rules are published for the fair, so the drop point is fixed with the venue before the day. Breslauer Straße and Liegnitzer Straße at P+R Langwasser Süd have official set-down places, 15 minutes at most.

Messe and congress venues

  • NCC - NürnbergConvention Center — Congress centres NCC Ost, NCC Mitte and NCC West on the NürnbergMesse grounds in Langwasser, served by U1 (stop Messe)
  • NürnbergMesse (Messezentrum Nürnberg) — Exhibition centre in Langwasser, south-east Nuremberg, with 16 halls. U-Bahn U1 from Hauptbahnhof towards Langwasser Süd, 8 minutes to the stop Messe; from the airport take U2 to Hauptbahnhof and change to U1 (about 20 minutes in total). Close to the A3, A6, A9 and A73 and signposted from all directions; navigation address Karl-Schönleben-Straße or the special destination "Messe". A dynamic traffic and parking guidance system for Messe, stadium and arena directs vehicles to about 13,500 parking spaces

Hotel districts for pickups

  • Hauptbahnhof / Königstor
  • Gostenhof / Plärrer
  • Wöhrd
  • Airport / Ziegelstein
  • Altstadt (Lorenz and Sebald sides)
  • Südstadt
  • St. Johannis
  • Langwasser / Messe (NürnbergMesse, NCC)

The old-town edge

Coaches may not enter the Altstadt. They use Vestnertorgraben (15 spaces, up to 2 hours), Spittlertorgraben (4 spaces) or Grasersgasse (set-down only, 15 minutes), all within about 15 minutes' walk of the sights. Augustinerstraße is only for passengers with reduced mobility, with a paid time-slot permit for each set-down and each pickup. There is no Umweltzone and no diesel ban.

Some railway underpasses are low, down to 3.60 m, so the operator plans the route against the coach's height.

Advent and the Memorium

During the Christkindlesmarkt, coaches set down and pick up at Vestnertorgraben or Grasersgasse with service staff on site and park at the Volksfestplatz; the year's arrangement is confirmed when booking. For the Memorium Nürnberger Prozesse, groups of 10 or more register and book tours at least three weeks ahead; the Justizgebäude has 2 signed coach spaces on Fürther Straße.

Planner questions

Can we visit the Zeppelin tribune?

Not at present. The tribune is expected to reopen around 2028 and the Zeppelinfeld around 2031. The Documentation Centre has reopened; groups of 10 or more register in advance.

Is Munich Airport an option for Nuremberg?

It is about 160 km and 2 hours away by road, a long transfer that uses a large share of one driver's day.

Is there a drop-off at the Germanisches Nationalmuseum?

Yes, right at the museum, both for setting down and for collecting. It is also only about 350 m on foot from the Hauptbahnhof.
