Group Transfers for Leipzig Fairs, Congresses and Tours

Leipzig moves groups well once the plan respects one line on the map: the Promenadenring, inside which coaches may not park.

Airport, station and fair grounds

Leipzig/Halle Airport (LEJ) sits 21 km or so from the Markt, about 25 minutes when the roads are clear. The airport publishes no coach pick-up point: the meeting place and the stopping bay are fixed with the operator at booking, and the vehicle is called forward against the actual landing time.

The Leipziger Messe stands on the Messe-Allee in the north, about 8 km from the Markt. Five connected halls, the Glashalle, the CCL congress centre and HALLE:EINS share one site, and the Neue Messe has its own listed coach park, so a hotel-to-hall shuttle can set down and turn without touching the centre.

Inside the ring: where a coach may stop

For the Thomaskirche and the Bach-Museum, coaches use the four signed stops on the upper Dittrichring, west of the church. They are for loading, not waiting, so brief the group to be on the pavement at the pick-up time. The single parking space inside the ring is beside the "Runde Ecke" museum.

Vehicles hold at the coach area east of the Hauptbahnhof, entered from the Brandenburger Straße, with sections for 10 and 31 coaches, or at the Talstraße by the Johannisplatz. Coaches taller than 3.60 m follow the tourist board's separate access map and bridge list.

Airports feeding Leipzig

Messe and congress venues

  • KONGRESSHALLE am Zoo Leipzig — Historic congress hall beside the Zoo, run by the Leipziger Messe
  • Leipziger Messe — Exhibition centre on the Messe-Allee in the north of the city, about 8 km by road from the Markt: five connected exhibition halls of 20,500 m² each, the Glashalle, the Congress Center Leipzig (CCL) and HALLE:EINS, an events hall for up to 15,000 visitors

Hotel districts for pickups

  • Hauptbahnhof area
  • Messe area in the north (near the exhibition centre and the A14)
  • City centre inside the Promenadenring
  • Zentrum-Nord and the Zoo
  • Plagwitz and Lindenau (west)

Sticker, book fair and arena nights

Roughly 62 per cent of the city lies inside the Umweltzone, which runs all day and lets in only vehicles carrying the green sticker, including those registered abroad. City hall plans to lift it in its current form in 2027/2028; until then the present rule applies, and the quote names the vehicle's sticker.

From 18 to 21 March 2027 the Leipziger Buchmesse fills hotels and coach parking, so book vehicles early. The Red Bull Arena and the QUARTERBACK Immobilien ARENA sit side by side at the Sportforum, west of the centre, and both have listed coach parking.

Partner programmes and onward legs

Halle, the Bauhaus in Dessau and Lutherstadt Wittenberg all lie within about 70 km; Dresden, about 1 h 25 min away, suits a full guided day. Train arrivals use the Hauptbahnhof on the north-east side of the ring, a short walk from the Markt.

Planner questions

May the coach wait by the Thomaskirche while the group visits?

No. The four signed stops on the Dittrichring serve boarding and alighting only. Parking is outside the ring, the nearest being the coach area east of the Hauptbahnhof.

How long is the run from LEJ to a hotel in the centre?

About 25 minutes for the 21 km in light traffic. Allow more at peak hours and for a group clearing baggage at different speeds.

Is a green sticker still needed in Leipzig?

Yes, for now. The zone is active and covers foreign vehicles too. The city expects to lift it in 2027/2028, so check before travel.

Can you run a shuttle loop between hotels and the Messe?

Yes. Send the hotel list, hall opening times and the delegates per wave; the quote sets out the vehicles, the loop timing and where each one stages.
