BER group transfers: Bus Stop B, two terminals, one meeting plan
At BER every group coach works from Bus Stop B, an open-air coach station a few minutes' walk from the terminals. The organiser's task is moving each arriving party from the right terminal to the right bay.
Walking times for the joining notes
Level U1 is where Bus Stop B sits: some 400 m (about 3 minutes) from Terminal 1, some 600 m (about 7) from Terminal 2. Follow the signs; traffic lights take the group over Hugo-Junkers-Ring. Heavy cases add time. Trolleys are available, and passengers with limited mobility reach the airport's mobility service via a call point where they leave the coach station.
Terminal 2 is its own building, reached on foot via the Terminal 1 arrivals level. When flights land in both, set one gathering point in Terminal 1 and walk out together.

How the bays work
Of the 30 bays, numbers 1 to 14 belong to approved scheduled services and the remainder take occasional work such as group coaches. No height or weight limit applies, the charge grows with the length of stay, and a driver's rest break may not be taken at the stop. When a flight runs late, the operator schedules that break elsewhere so the coach is not parked at a bay.
The terminal forecourts are restricted to vehicles of 3.5 t or less, which rules out coaches. Cars with driver and light minibuses may stop there: 10 minutes free, three times in any eight-hour window. For a VIP travelling with a group, that allows a kerbside pick-up while the main party walks to Bus Stop B.
Drive time to the city
- about 27 km by road to the Brandenburger Tor, in the centre of Berlin, about 35-40 min in light traffic; longer at peak times
Terminals and arrival levels
- Terminal 2 (a separate building next to Terminal 1, a few minutes' walk away)
- Terminal 1
Across Berlin
By road the Brandenburger Tor is about 27 km away: allow 35 to 40 minutes in light traffic and more at peak. Inside the S-Bahn ring the city is an Umweltzone, and the green sticker applies to coaches registered abroad as well. Messe Berlin, under the Funkturm in Charlottenburg-Westend, is on the western side of the city, so a fair delegation crosses Berlin from the south-east: set the arrival window with that in mind.
Rail for stragglers
From the station under Terminal 1, the FEX departs every 15 minutes; Hauptbahnhof is about 23 minutes away. A late passenger can follow the group by train, with a ticket for fare zones ABC, since the airport is in zone C. A few IC trains a day run via the airport between Chemnitz/Dresden and Rostock.
Beyond the capital
Potsdam's Alter Markt: about 51 km, roughly 45 minutes. Dresden (about 170 km) and Leipzig (about 195 km) are each roughly two hours, workable as a direct transfer after landing, with the driver's hours counted from the coach's first job of the day.
Planner questions
Can the coach collect us outside arrivals?
No. The forecourts are limited to 3.5 t, so coaches load at Bus Stop B; a car with driver can stop there.
How far is Bus Stop B from Terminal 2?
About 600 m, roughly 7 minutes on foot.
Can the coach sit at Bus Stop B if the flight is delayed?
It can stay for a charge based on time, but drivers may not take rest breaks there, so the operator times the coach to the actual landing.
