Group Transport in Hanover: Airport, Messe and HCC
Hanover is a trade-fair city first. When the big fairs run, hotels across the region fill and the roads to the Messegelände carry the load, so transfers are planned around entrances, not just addresses.
Four sides, one exhibition site
Roughly 11 km from the centre, the Messegelände sits on the city's south-eastern edge where it meets Laatzen. Stadtbahn line 8, joined by line 18 at fair times, runs from the Hauptbahnhof to the north entrances and line 6 to the east gate, while buses 340 and 341 handle the south and west sides. Tell the shuttle which entrance is nearest the stand, because that decides where it sets down.
Vehicles park in big paid car parks beyond the fence. Agree with the operator where the coach waits between the morning and evening runs.

From HAJ to the hall
From Hannover Airport (HAJ) in Langenhagen it is roughly 14 km to Kröpcke, a 20 to 25-minute drive off-peak; the exhibition grounds are roughly half an hour's drive from the airport, depending on traffic, which builds on fair mornings. The airport marks a coach parking area on its map but publishes no rules for it, so the meeting point and stopping place are settled at booking.
S-Bahn line S5 links the airport with the Hauptbahnhof, where ICE trains stop. Executives arriving on their own can be met by a car with driver on the same flight and taken straight to the stand.
Airports feeding Hanover
- Hannover Airport (HAJ) — about 20-25 min in light traffic; the airport gives about 25-30 min by taxi depending on traffic
Messe and congress venues
- Hannover Congress Centrum (HCC) — Congress centre beside the Stadtpark and the Zoo: 23,000 m² of foyer and event space with about 13,000 seats in all; the historic Kuppelsaal seats about 3,570 in rows
- Messegelände Hannover (Deutsche Messe) — Exhibition grounds in the south-east of the city on the border with Laatzen, about 11 km by road from the centre; Stadtbahn line 8 to the north entrances and line 6 to the east entrance; home of the HANNOVER MESSE (next 5 to 8 April 2027)

Fair dates and hotel spread
The HANNOVER MESSE next runs from 5 to 8 April 2027. Delegations end up in Laatzen, near the airport or further out, and the further the hotel, the earlier the first loop leaves. Send the hotel list early so the quote can set the loop.
For a congress, the Hannover Congress Centrum beside the Stadtpark and the Zoo offers about 13,000 seats across its rooms, the domed Kuppelsaal about 3,570 in rows.
Centre and evenings
Since 22 February 2024 Hanover has had no low-emission zone, and driving in the city needs no sticker; rules can change, so check before travel. No official coach stop list exists for the centre, and the operator confirms where to set down near Kröpcke or the Neues Rathaus.
For an evening at the Herrenhäuser Gärten, coaches can use the signposted visitor car park (Großer Garten / Georgengarten) at no charge. Hildesheim is about 30 minutes away, Celle about 45 and the Autostadt in Wolfsburg just over an hour.
Planner questions
Which Messe entrance should the shuttle use?
The one nearest the group's hall. Name the hall in the booking, and the shuttle is planned to the north, east, south or west entrance accordingly.
Is a green sticker needed in Hanover?
No. The zone was lifted in February 2024. Check before travel in case the rules change.
How early should the first fair-day loop leave?
It depends on the hotel. From the airport area, allow the 30-minute road time plus opening-morning traffic.
