Düsseldorf Group Transport Between Airport, Messe and Altstadt

Düsseldorf's airport and Messe lie about 3 km apart in the north of the city, and the approach roads to the Messe and airport car parks stay outside the Umweltzone. Fair transfers are short; the airport pickup procedure is what needs planning.

Collecting a group at DUS

A coach collecting passengers first reports to the DUS-Bus registration point on Kieshecker Weg with the flight number, the scheduled landing and any delay, its registration and its seat count. The coordinator then gives it a time to drive in to pick-up bays 1 to 3 at the bus terminal. The arrivals level itself is a no-stopping zone; setting down uses the coach zone on the departures level, up to 30 minutes.

Because the coach is called in, the group should be at the agreed meeting point when it arrives, not still at baggage reclaim. Send flight numbers early and pass on delays as soon as you hear of them.

Messe Düsseldorf and the CCD

The Messe sits in Stockum beside the MERKUR SPIEL-ARENA; from the A44, exit 29 Messe/Arena, coaches reach the big P1 and P2 car parks, where a free shuttle bus runs to the entrances. The CCD congress centre adjoins the grounds, and its main entrance is served by P3, P5 and P6. The fair does not publish coach rules for visitors, so the operator clears the stop with the venue.

Rail delegates have options. Düsseldorf Flughafen station has about 300 trains a day including ICE, and on fair days the U81 runs between the airport terminal and Messe Nord. Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof adds ICE, IC and Eurostar services.

  • Messe Düsseldorf — Exhibition grounds in Stockum, north of the city centre on the Rhine, next to the MERKUR SPIEL-ARENA; navigation address Am Staad (Stockumer Höfe), 40474 Düsseldorf. The A44 runs along the grounds; exit 29 Messe/Arena leads to the large car parks P1 and P2, with a free shuttle bus to the entrances. U-Bahn stops MERKUR SPIEL-ARENA/Messe Nord (U78, on some event days also U81) and Messe Ost/Stockumer Kirchstraße (U78, U79, U80, bus 722)

Sticker, Altstadt and evenings

Much of Düsseldorf lies inside the Umweltzone: green sticker for every vehicle, foreign coaches included, and no diesel bans. For the Altstadt, Fritz-Roeber-Straße has 17 coach places, normally usable without booking, and Rheinterrasse / Tonhalle on Robert-Lehr-Ufer is paid, with a 4.00 m entry height.

Königsallee, the Rheinturm and the MedienHafen have no official coach stop, so the set-down point is agreed when booking. In the Christmas-market season coach places are reserved through Visit Düsseldorf; that year's system is confirmed when you book.

Can coaches wait at the airport between runs?

No. There is no coach park and parking is forbidden on every bay, so the operator plans a holding point away from the terminal.

How far is Cologne from Düsseldorf Airport?

About 60 km to the Dom, roughly 45 to 50 minutes in light traffic.

Which arena is which?

The MERKUR SPIEL-ARENA, home of Fortuna Düsseldorf, is beside the Messe on the U78. The PSD BANK DOME in Rath hosts Düsseldorfer EG; its garage is limited to 1.90 m, far too low for a coach.
