Düsseldorf Airport group transfers: registration, bays and the Messe next door
Düsseldorf runs coach pick-ups through a registration point: the coach reports in, receives a time and only then drives to the bus terminal. It works well when the flight details sent in advance are complete.
What the driver reports
Step one is the DUS-Bus registration point on Kieshecker Weg. There the driver states the flight number, scheduled landing and any delay already known, plus the vehicle registration, seat count and coach company; the coordinator then releases the coach to the bays marked "Pick up 1-3". Most of that comes from your flight list, so send a flight number for every sub-group, not a single headline arrival time.
No vehicle may stop anywhere on the arrivals level, and parking is forbidden on every bay. The coach comes in when the group is ready, loads and leaves.

Concourses A, B and C under one roof
Because concourses A, B and C share one terminal building, staggered arrivals can meet in the public part of the arrivals level without changing building. Hold the early arrivals inside, then have the coach called once the last flight's bags are out. That is usually simpler than two half-empty vehicles.
Drive time to the city
- about 9 km by road to the Burgplatz, in the Altstadt of Düsseldorf, about 15 min in light traffic; longer at peak times
Terminals and arrival levels
- One terminal building with concourses (Flugsteige) A, B and C, a central check-in hall on the departures level (E1) and the arrivals level (E0)
The departures run
Leaving, coaches have their own stopping zone on the departures level, good for up to 30 minutes with the first 20 free of charge. Enough to unload a group and its bags for check-in, not a place to wait for late guests. Taller vehicles use the 3.60 m wide entry lane with a raised ticket machine.
Messe, Altstadt, Rhineland
The CCD congress centre, joined to the Messe grounds, is about 3 km from the airport. U80 and U81 have started serving the terminal's light-rail station, and the airport quotes about 7 minutes to the Messe. For a fair, hotel-to-hall shuttles and airport runs work on very short loops. Düsseldorf's Umweltzone covers a large part of the city and requires the green sticker.
Altstadt (Burgplatz): about 9 km, about 15 minutes in light traffic. Kölner Dom: about 60 km, 45 to 50 minutes.
Long-distance rail
Düsseldorf Flughafen station handles ICE and regional trains; the SkyTrain gets passengers to the terminal in about 7 minutes. S11 runs from below the terminal to the Hauptbahnhof. Before relying on a train connection, check the current rail service.
Planner questions
Does the coach need to register in advance?
It reports on the day at the DUS-Bus registration point, and the coordinator gives it a time to drive in. The operator handles this; you supply accurate flight numbers.
Can we be collected on the arrivals level?
Not by coach: there are no stopping places there. Coaches load at the bus terminal bays.
How long can the coach stay when dropping us for a flight?
Up to 30 minutes in the coach zone on the departures level, the first 20 free.
How close is the Messe?
Very close. The CCD at the Messe is about 3 km away, and U80/U81 reach the Messe in about 7 minutes.
