Nuremberg Christkindlesmarkt: Drop-offs, Parking, Timing
The Christkindlesmarkt fills the Hauptmarkt and the streets around it between 27 November and 24 December 2026. Stalls open at 10:00 and close at 21:00, and at 14:00 on Christmas Eve. Nuremberg's medieval Altstadt cannot absorb coach traffic, so every group plan rests on two drop-off points at its edge.
P1, P2 and the Volksfestplatz
During the market, coaches set down and collect at Vestnertorgraben (P1) and Grasersgasse (P2). The central bus station (ZOB) is reserved for scheduled lines. Between runs, coaches can park at the Volksfestplatz, Bayernstraße 100, a coach area offered by the city tourist office with signs and staff on site, about 6 km or 12 minutes from the Hauptmarkt. The dates of that coach service are published each year in late September and confirmed at booking.
The pattern is simple: drop at P1 or P2, the coach parks at the Volksfestplatz, then returns for a fixed collection. Set that time before arrival and make sure every guest has it. A group spread across a packed market after dark is slow to gather.
Guests with reduced mobility
Augustinerstraße is closed to coaches all day while the market runs. A coach carrying people with reduced mobility may enter only with a special permit for each entry, booked online with the city. If anyone in your party needs it, say so in the enquiry so the permit can be requested in time.
Movement planning notes
- Nürnberg's Old Town is medieval with many narrow streets, so large numbers of coaches cannot set down or pick up inside it.
- The city tourist office offers a coach parking area at the Volksfestplatz, Bayernstraße 100, with signage and staff on the ground; the coach service dates are published each year in late September.
- The Volksfestplatz is about 6 km by road from the Hauptmarkt (about 12 min in light traffic); Nürnberg airport is about 8 km (about 15 min).

Flying in, and next year's dates
The airport lies only about 8 km out, some 15 minutes by road in light traffic, which makes a same-day fly-in for an evening at the market workable. Nuremberg has no Umweltzone, so no sticker is needed.
