Berlin Marathon 2027: Transfers for Running Groups
The GENERALI BERLIN-MARATHON, run as the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON up to 2026, takes place on Sunday 26 September 2027. For a club or corporate team, road transport belongs to the days around the race rather than to race morning.
Arrival, expo, race, departure
Most teams land at BER, about 27 km from the Brandenburger Tor (about 35 minutes in light traffic). Coaches cannot use the terminal forecourts there; they load at Bus Stop B, about 400 m from Terminal 1. The participants' expo is held at the former Tempelhof airport, so one group shuttle from the hotels to Tempelhof replaces a string of separate journeys.
A field of over 50,000 finishers, plus the crowds along the course, keeps hotels and vehicles in demand all weekend. Book the transfers as soon as the team list is settled.

Race morning belongs to the trains
Start and finish are on the Straße des 17. Juni, running between the Kleiner Stern and the Brandenburger Tor, with runner entrances at Platz der Republik and Bremer Weg. The nearest stations are Brandenburger Tor, Bundestag, Potsdamer Platz and Berlin Hauptbahnhof. Runners need no separate ticket: the bib counts as a ticket in fare zones A, B and C for the Thursday through Sunday of race week, so S-Bahn and U-Bahn carry them in.
With a cut-off of 6 h 15 min, the course roads stay shut for most of the day. A coach is useful for supporters and for the return, from a meeting point away from the course agreed in advance.
Movement planning notes
- The course is 42.195 km long, past many of Berlin's sights, and finishes after the Brandenburger Tor; it is known as the flattest race of the World Marathon Majors.
- The race-day page gives the start area on Straße des 17. Juni with runner entrances at Platz der Republik and Bremer Weg; the nearest stations are Brandenburger Tor, Bundestag, Potsdamer Platz and Berlin Hauptbahnhof.
- A runner's race bib is valid as a public transport ticket in fare zones A, B and C from the Thursday to the Sunday of race week.
- BER airport is about 27 km by road from the Brandenburger Tor (about 35 min in light traffic).
- From 2027 the race has a new title sponsor and is called the GENERALI BERLIN-MARATHON; it was the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON up to and including 2026.
- The race has more than 50,000 finishers and millions of spectators along the course.
- The time limit is 6 h 15 min and the finish closes at 17:15, so roads on the course stay closed for most of the day.
- The marathon expo for participants is held at the former Tempelhof airport.
Green sticker and Monday flights
Inside the S-Bahn ring Berlin runs a low-emission zone; a green sticker is required, on foreign-registered coaches as well. For departures the day after, allow extra loading time: tired legs board slowly.
Planner questions
Can a coach take runners to the start?
Not close to it. The course roads are closed, so runners take the S-Bahn or U-Bahn on their bib.
What time does the race start?
The organiser publishes the race-day times for each year; the transfer plan uses the times on its current page.
Is it still the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON?
No. From 2027 the title sponsor is Generali. The race still starts and finishes on the Straße des 17. Juni.
